Logwatch is a customizable log analysis system. Logwatch parses through your system's logs for a given period of time and creates a report analyzing areas that you specify, in as much detail as you require. Logwatch is easy to use and will work right out of the package on most systems.

Does anyone have any experiences with this tool?

So there shouldn't be any issues with installing or running it on VPS right?

No, none that I can think of. It just parses the logs. It will use some resources of course when it runs but it shouldn't be heavy.

I installed LogWatch 6.0.2 about one month ago. It’s working quite well since and I get every morning a detailed report into my mailbox.

I've just installed 6.1 from RPM and I was wondering what options to run it with
I'm thinking of running
logwatch --detail medium --range Yesterday
at 6am everyday.

What options did you choose?

Hmmm. I haven't looked into this yet. But, I was just searching for a way to exclude ip's from the statistics programs in cpanel (awstats etc.). Does this have the option of doing that?

Nope, this is just a genereal log analyzer, it is not related to any statistiс programs in cpanel...
