G'day,

The people at PowerVPS very kindly implemented all the security features listed in the security update post (http://forums.deftechgroup.com/showthread.php?t=26) in our space, for which we are thankful.

On reading the information on the update post, some questions come to mind:

5. /tmp hardening: "... /tmp (may be) too small for some operations like account backups/transfers."

Q1) How/when will we know if it is too small?

Also, there are two items which we need to know when requesting support:

7. Disable SSH root access: No-root login info.

8. Change SSH Port: New port info.

Q2) How do we find these two bits of info?

Gracias,

Michael

How? the operation will fail :)
When? Unlikely to affect you but always good to be aware of. The only time I can think of this happening would be if you were transferring a very large account away from us, and why would you do that! If such an unlikely event were to occur, just send in a ticket :)

We don't enable those by default as they are advanced features and can be confusing to the novice - you need to ask for it. If you were to ask for this, you'd either request a specific login and port, be told what they were when the work was completed.

Q4) Which features: As, when I was asked, I did not specify which of the 8 features that were listed in the post I wanted, which would have been added, and which do I have to ask for.

Sorry, the support technician who worked on your server should have noted that disabling root ssh and changed the default ssh port are not done unless explicitly requested.
