Can anyone suggest some good ways to make sure my customers aren't sending spam? WHM's "view mail statistics" script doesn't seem to be of much value because none of the sending hosts are mine and I know they're not being relayed.

i use MailScanner and MailWatch... I can see anything that get in and get out of my server...

There's instructions to install it on configserver.com or you can pay 35$ to have it installed by them... I paid and i'm very happy.

I do not fear to have spam sent from my server anymore...

here's the infos to install it by yourself ( means it's free :))
http://www.configserver.com/free/mailscanner.html

or the installation service + support
http://www.configserver.com/cp/mailscanner.html

there both integrated with cpanel, so the users are able to set their own whitelist, blacklists, spam level, high spam level...

Also, the MailScanner has a lot of configurations to have a lot of fun...

I believe Mailscanner is very resource intensive, it is advised to have about 1GB RAM. Fred, are you using it on a VPS here? Mind giving approx stats of mails as in bandwidth and no. of domains, no. of mails to and fro?

I'm running it on my vps... a standard CPANEL POWER-1 ...

Mailscanner process about 700 mails a day... Spam is about 60% of the processed mails every day...
Say bw is about 8mo to 40mo a day... Number of mails sent from my server is about 25 or 50 a day.
And my server is doing very fine, this is far than a lot of mails... :)

Look at the recommended setup:
